Hi all and welcome to another Masculine Make Monday,
This card was created at the same time as the card in last weeks blog, so it has the same principles behind it: Easy to send by post andasy to produce in quantity.
So here it is:
This cards colour combination is Dark Brown and Teal, this time on a White base. The Compass stamp is from the same ‘Going Global’ set as before by Stampin’ Up!. The Arrow is from a now retired set by them, there many similar on the market or by using a ruler, you could add your own with a pen colour of your choice.
As before I used scored lines to add texture, interest and to create a frame for the centre of the panel. The panel was once again added to the base using wet adhesive, to keep the card as flat as possible.
Once I had stamped the compass and the arrow, I decided that it needed an extra element – I wanted to make it appear ‘Glassy’. I could of gone about this in many ways: Using a glossy glue such as Glossy Accents or Diamond Gloss; I could of used a Versamark pen to colour over the image, or made a mask and used a versamark stamp pad and then clear heat embossed over it. However all of these ideas, I felt, were too time consuming for batch card making. So my final choice was to use Acetate and a circle punch, to punch out ‘glass’ panes to go over the image. I had also wanted to add a brad to the centre of the compass as decoration but it also became the best way to attach the acetate. Happy Days!!
As a final detail, I stamped three very small circles to the bottom right of the card panel, which I then also added a layer of glossy accents to. This gives them a dimensional feel and deepens the deep brown ink colour. The Arrow, sentiment and circles were all stamped in Espresso truffle Memento ink and the Compass was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink by Stampin’ Up!
I hope that this card shows you not to be afraid of leaving white space on a card – In fact the white space can be used as a great detail in card making 🙂
