WordPress Poetry 201: Day 1

Hi folks,

Today I’m sharing something a little different. I have joined the WordPress Poetry 201 event. It actually started on Monday and I have had to catch up as I have a poorly child. Luckily she is on her way to getting well so here I am.

I have never shared my poems before so this is a little scary but also exciting! I’m not looking for validation or praise: It just feels like a good time to take this interest of mine to the next level.

So, enjoy and of course feel free to comment or advise improvements 🙂

Todays assignment:

Word: screen

Type  : Haiku, Japanese poem using a 5-7-5 layout.

Language Tool: Alliteration, a consonant used multiple times in close proximity.

I have decided to use modern-day tech screens to write about and the effect that they can have on a person.

Title: A Screen, This Screen, All Screens

Invasive, blank stares.

Entertains yet isolates.

Company/Alone

I didn’t use alliteration in this Haiku, it just didn’t seem to fit. I did however try again and came up with:

‘Perfect’ people peer,

pompous pretenses are paused,

gaming or texting?

I’m not which I prefer but enjoyed the challenge,

Thank you for stopping by,

Take care and happy crafting 🙂
